This weekend, Pedram and I went to Luxembourg to hang out with the Rowhani family. If you have never been or even heard of Luxembourg, here is the scoop. Luxembourg is a country (yes country) that borders Belgium, France, and Germany. They have their own language, called Luxembourgish, which sounds like a prettier German. The official name is the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and they have a Grand Duke that throws elaborate parties and will sponsor (pay) for your seventh child. And Lux is no small player in Europe — their banks are second to Switzerland, they are founding members of the EU, NATO and the UN, and their GDP is the highest in the world.
Furthermore, in my opinion Luxembourg gets as close to a utopia state as is possible. Incredibly diverse, with over 37% (!!) of its population from other countries, Luxembourg is a place where one can see all ethnicities and races able to achieve unbridled wealth, health and happiness. It is SO clean and proper, everything is sanitzed and perfectly…well…luxurious. Honestly, it makes Brussels look like a dog pit. Luxembourg also has amazing landscapes, lakes and hills, has maintained its humble farming roots while silently ruling all of Europe. It isn’t too hard for them, especially since the average Luxembourger speaks no less than 4-5 languages fluently.
Finally, Pedram’s mom makes a mean polo, so we stayed the entire weekend. Here are some pics from our walk to the cows from their house. I have always loved the cows, which are so much prettier than the garbage eating ones in Senegal and India.
