So I have been pretty busy the past few days because my parents are visiting from Seattle. I would post pictures, but I am pretty sure someone would accuse me of parent-labor, because all of my pictures are of them performing hard labor tasks in my garden or my kitchen. Today, two days before they are going to leave Montreal, I will show them a bit of the city. That is, whenever they wake up, because it is 10:30 and both of them are exhausted from the dinner party I had them throw last night.
It is so great to have them here. It is so wonderful to have a full house, even in this ridiculous humid heat wave. Our home is coming together well, with new plants outside and even a few inside, as well as all of the kitchen tools we were lacking and didn’t even know it. Here are some things I have learned so far from their trip here:
1 – My nose is really nice. My mom just realized this, and now we are trying to figure out where it comes from in the family.
2 – Eating good food everynight is possible. Really good food. (but will most likely triple in size as a result)
3 – My mom has ALOT of energy. I ask her where she stows her amphetamines, but she repeats her secret drug is healthy food.
4 – Washing dishes immediately is much better than letting them stack up for days and then washing them. Onions should not be placed in the fridge, and plants need a lot of water. Never eat white bread, even for your bagels. But never serve persian food with brown rice.
5 – They are very selfless, taking time off to spend with me and Pedram. Even more so, they really compliment each other — my dad laid-back demeanor is a perfect match for my get-it-done mother.
Now off to get the morning tea ready…
awww, how fun. i love the parent-labor comment, haha. and even myself (as a non-persian) could never eat persian food with anything but white, long-grain rice. i think im persian at heart. i LOVE persian food.
