Today

It has become more and more difficult to blog everyday, as we are in Seattle and it feels like every minute is filled with activities — such as playing Risk with my brother, Jenga with my cousins, walking with my dog, visiting houses with my dad, and of course, eating alot.  Tonight was pretty crazy too, as Pedram and Sina went to a concert, but first dropped me off at Brianna’s house so I could do some catch up with my girls.

We are very good at the catch up game, but as it always is with good friends, time passes too fast, and suddenly we realize that the restaurant is closing down.  Shirin extends an invitation to go to some cheesy bowling alley/club for a friend’s birthday, and I ask Pedram and Sina if they are interested.  They are curious, so I tell her we’ll escort her there.  Kristin and Brianna quickly refuse, which should have been a big hint.

The bowling alley had a dress code, which included items like “no white shirt” and “no baggy clothing”.  How my brother and husband got in is beyond me.  It was an enormous arcade/bowling alley/club/bar, with girls wearing next to nothing gyrating alongside sleazy men.  Girls, younger than me, with only a strapless dress covering their body, throwing their hair back and winking at also young, young men.  It was very easy to feel cheap in the environment.  Men were constantly on the prowl, looking girls up and down, circling their prey.  Everyone had an air of fabricated self-confidence, as if they were too good to be there and incredibly hot.

Oh, and the best part is that it is in a mall.  Very surburbia.  We lasted about 4 minutes in there and left immediately.  But of all the things I did today, all the games and discussions and events, I feel like those four minutes will last with me, as I cannot remove the image of the near-naked gyrating women, dancing in front on bowling lanes, out of my head.
